The TIPS (Trauma Informed Psychosocial Supports) Program is an intensive outpatient program designed to be an all-inclusive program for families with teens to provide intensive support in order to maintain the teen in a family or kinship environment through the prevention of placement or reunification. Parents are required to participate in services in order to work with the family as a system vs. isolating the teen. Each service may be utilized individually on a case by case situation.
Youth Advocacy and Peer Support
Each Teen involved in the program will be assigned a personal advocate to work with them on individualizing their program goals and to be available for one on one sessions. Teens will work with their personal advocate up to 2 hours per week. Teen Advocates will also provide case management services.

Individual Therapy
Each teen involved in the program will also be paired with an individual therapist to provide individual therapeutic support and address any mental health issues that could become a barrier for the youth’s success. Teens will meet with their therapist on a weekly basis. In Phase 1, parents will also work with an individual therapist to help prepare them for the next phase involving family connect sessions.

This group is designed to help teens understand their own development and needs, as well as help them to develop their independence and individuality in safe and acceptable ways.

Healthy Relationships Group
Healthy Relationships for Teens is a group designed to educate teens about healthy relationship traits and enable them to recognize red flags, emotional cycles, inappropriate relationships and unhealthy interactions.It helps them to notice patterns in relationships around them and break from cycles in their own family history.

Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors Group (CBT/DBT)
This is the most intensive group and is a cognitive skills group.This group focuses on changing patterns of behavior, identifying replacement behaviors, building social skills and strategies for self-improvement.The group will include journaling, thinking error maps, commitment to change, responsibility projects, goal setting, changing negative thoughts and perceptions, mindfulness, emotional regulation, drugs and criminal conduct, recognizing high risk situations, self-control, triggers and cues, empathy, violence prevention, morals and values, decision making, communication and accountability.

Art, Music and Movement are unique avenues for emotional expression and processing trauma.These therapeutic activities can also provide alternatives for youth in getting in touch with self, building self-worth and connecting with the therapeutic process.

An trauma informed parenting support group for parents and caregivers of preteens and adolescents that examines the role of biology and brain development in behavior and how traumatic experiences affect children on an unconscious level. The group looks at where behaviors come from and ways to help the teen regulate emotion. The group is also a mechanism of support for parents and caregivers of pre-teens and teens.

Family Connections
Therapeutic family sessions will be required and will be available in home and on site.Foster parents, parents, kinship providers and other family members will be involved to support the Teen and the family unit be successful.The family will meet with their therapist a minimum of 1-3 times per week.
