TIPS for Teens is a pre-residential program for teens designed to provide intensive therapeutic, psycho-educational, supportive and individualized services with the intent to give teens a solid base for self-sufficiency and future success.
Teen Advocacy and Peer Support
Each Teen involved in the program will be assigned a personal advocate to work with them on individualizing their program goals and to be available for one on one sessions. Teens will work with their personal advocate up to 2 hours per week. Teen Advocates will also provide case management services.

Individual Therapy
Each teen involved in the program will be paired with an individual therapist to provide individual therapeutic support and address any mental health issues that could become a barrier for the youth’s success. Teens will meet with their therapist on a weekly basis.

Family Connections
Family sessions will be required and will be available in home and on site. Parents, caregivers and other family members will be involved to support the teen and the family unit be successful. The family will meet with their family connecter 1-3 times per week depending on which phase of the program they are in. In the first phase of the program there will be a parent and family connect session, a family meeting session and a family activity session.

Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors Group
The group will include journaling, thinking error maps, commitment to change, responsibility projects, goal setting, changing negative thoughts and perceptions, drugs and criminal conduct, recognizing high risk situations, self-control, triggers and cues, empathy, violence prevention, morals and values, decision making, communication and accountability.

Healthy Relationships for Teens
Healthy Relationships for Teens is a group designed to educate teens about healthy relationship dynamics and enable them to recognize red flags, the cycle of violence, inappropriate relationships and unhealthy interactions. It helps them to notice patterns in relationships around them and break from cycles in their own family history. Healthy Relationships for Teens is an ongoing therapeutic group that requires successful completion of competencies. This group meets for 1 ½ hours per week.

Developed from the Evidence Based Nurturing Programs, It’s All About Being a Teen is a 99 lesson, competency based curriculum that empowers professionals with the tools to help teens sort out and master the complexities and challenges of adolescence.

Replacement Behaviors Group
The Replacement Behaviors group is an activity group designed to introduce teens to different activities and interests to support them in developing healthy replacement behaviors for past maladaptive behaviors that they have been engaged in. This group meets for 12 sessions during the first phase of the program.

ParenTeen
ParenTeen is a parenting program for parents that combines two parenting curriculums including the Nurturing Program for Parents of Adolescents and Parenting Beyond Consequences.
Nurturing Parenting Program for Parents of Adolescents
This program is designed to repair abusive parent-teen relationships. Parents and their teens attend separate groups concurrently, and then join as one group for 90 minutes. Parents and teens role-play, discuss, draw, and learn how to live with each other, learn how to play together, to communicate respectively, and to be a positive, nurturing family.
Parenting Beyond Consequences
An intensive group for parents and caregivers working with children with severe behaviors related to different kinds of trauma or attachment disruption. The group examines the role of biology and brain development in behavior and how traumatic experiences affect children on an unconscious level. The group looks at where behaviors come from and ways to help the teen regulate emotion. The group is also a mechanism of support for parents and caregivers of pre-teen and teens.
